Albert Avery
I could never tell
Never really knew
What you wanted from me
Not buying what you sell
None of it rings true
A little too much for me
(chorus)
Looking for something
Looking for something
Looking for something I can't see
Looking for something
Looking for something
Looking for something I can't see
Nothing I can do
It's poison in the well
It's not black and white to me
Impossible to prove
To get the wheels to move
Why's it all on me
chorus
Something worth belief
Written at the Broken City Songwriter Retreat in March 2019. I wanted to put all the new stuff I learned to the test so I recorded and edited everything in this track myself.
We're looking for something, some sort of sign from someone or something... some sort of higher power? But we don't always get an answer and we aren't sure what to do. Does it exist?
"Sometimes the most painful demons are the ones we can't even see. People assume that if you cannot see them, it's not really there." - Meghan Rienks
Invisible Enemies takes you on a journey from discovering your fears and struggling with them, in a constant battle with fear, or the invisible enemies. Fear portrays many moods, with anger, loss, hopelessness, mysteriousness. But in the end of the day, we have to learn to live with our fears, as there's no way to completely get rid of them.
"Wooden Dreams" explores the various wooden features of the percussion sections, while changing the mood of the piece - which happens often in a dream. Thoughts grow within a dream, and the piece flows through different feelings, eventually going into an abrupt ending, as the dream is all over.
